What’s new for the 2024 Ram 1500?
For 2024, the Ram 1500 says goodbye to its high-performance, 702-horsepower TRX trim model with a special TRX Final Edition truck. The regular TRX trim model will also be available.
The Tradesman Warlock joins the fifth-generation Ram 1500 lineup for the first time. The Warlock was originally introduced as an off-road package for the Ram 1500 Classic (basically the fourth-generation version of the Ram 1500 that continued to be sold after the fifth-generation Ram 1500 debuted for the 2019 model year).
Now, the Warlock joins the 2024 Ram 1500 lineup, adding to the Tradesman trim with trail-friendly gear with an electronic rear-locking differential, 33-inch tires, performance-tuned shocks, and an extra inch of ground clearance. The new version of the Warlock package also includes an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, 7-inch digital gauge cluster, blacked-out exterior trim and cloth interior trim.
There are a few other updates for 2024. The turbodiesel engine is not available. And a tailgate ajar warning is now standard for all Ram 1500 trucks.
Which engine options are available for the 2024 Ram 1500?
For 2024, most Ram 1500 trim models are available with two engine options, the base 305-horsepower V6 or the 395-horsepower V8. Only the high-performance TRX trim model comes with the supercharged V8, which pumps out an incredible 702 horses.
The base V6 includes Ram’s eTorque mild hybrid system to help you enjoy both a smoother ride and improved fuel economy. The eTorque system is optional with the 5.7-liter V8 engine. Each Ram 1500 engine is paired with an eight-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is optional for all but the TRX, where it’s standard.
Every Ram 1500 engine option is big on power:
- 3.6L V6 (305 horsepower, 269 lb-ft of torque)
- 5.7L V8 (395 hp, 410 lb-ft)
- TRX-specific supercharged 6.2L V8 (702 hp, 650 lb-ft)
Why is Ram discontinuing the Ram 1500 TRX?
Since Stellantis made a commitment to become carbon net-zero by 2038, the automaker has had to make some big changes. And the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 under the TRX’s hood is among its sacrificial gas-guzzlers.
But that’s not to say that the Ram 1500 TRX isn’t going out with a bang. Not only will the regular version of this high-performance off-road truck remain available for the 2024 model year, but Ram will also offer a Final Edition version of the truck. This limited-edition pickup will feature exclusive styling options, and only 4,000 units will be sold.
Final Edition shoppers will be able to order this truck in eight exterior colors, including three exclusive options: Harvest Sunrise, Night Edge Blue, and Delmonico Red. Satin Titanium beadlock-capable wheels are also available, and adding them also means a color-matched bed graphic and hood badge.
The Final Edition cabin also has an air of exclusivity, with a badge featuring each truck’s build number on the center console. When you start your Final Edition, the gauge cluster splash screen reads “Final Edition.” The interior is also home to faux-suede door panels and carbon fiber trim.
How much is the 2024 Ram 1500?
The latest version of Ram’s full-size truck starts at $38,570. The 2024 Ram 1500 is available with so many body styles and equipment, however, that its MSRP can range all the way up to $65,205. According to Car and Driver, the final Ram 1500 TRX will start at a little over $87,000, and the limited-run TRX Final Edition will start at $119,620.
