According to Car and Driver, Jeep uses its Twelve 4 Twelve campaign to introduce a different special model each month, with the Sarge among the first announced for 2027. Based on the Willys and Rubicon, it looks back to the 1941 Willys MB for inspiration. Green accents, vintage-style badges, and unique decals help distinguish it from other Wrangler models.
The Smoky Mountain Edition takes a different approach. Based on the four-door Willys, it features 17-inch smoky-black wheels, special graphics, and a gloss-black grille. Body-color fender flares and a matching hardtop complete the exterior treatment, and 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires are available.
Jeep carries the special treatment into the cabin with Willys-embossed cloth seats accented by Terracotta stitching. Blaze Orange details and unique trim add more color, while heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a universal garage-door opener are included.
But wait! There's one more special edition to add to the lineup as of this writing.Car and Driver reports that the 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A looks back to the Willys CJ-2A, Jeep’s first civilian model introduced in 1945. Based on the Wrangler Rubicon, the special edition features retro-inspired 17-inch orange wheels with 33-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, orange tow hooks, and heritage-themed interior details.
Buyers can choose a 285-hp 3.6-liter V6 or a 270-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while standard off-road equipment includes front and rear locking differentials and an electronic disconnecting anti-roll bar. The JL-2A package adds $4,995 to the price of a Rubicon.
Wrangler buyers can choose among three powertrains. The 285-hp 3.6-liter V6 produces and pairs with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. The 270-hp turbocharged four-cylinder uses the eight-speed automatic exclusively. At the top of the lineup, the 470-hp V8 also uses an eight-speed automatic.
Most Wrangler models feature standard part-time four-wheel drive. A full-time four-wheel-drive system is available on Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon models, while the 392 exclusively uses full-time four-wheel drive.
Two-door models can tow up to 2,000 pounds, while four-door versions have a capacity of 3,500 pounds. With its V8 engine, the 392 can pull as much as 5,000 pounds.
The turbocharged four-cylinder delivers the Wrangler's best EPA estimates when installed in the two-door model. It gets 20 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. Fuel consumption increases with the 470-horsepower V8. The Wrangler 392 earns EPA ratings of 13 mpg city, 16 mpg highway, and 14 mpg combined.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen houses Jeep's Uconnect 5 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Built-in navigation is available on certain Wrangler models. With a subscription, the system provides access to more than 3,000 mapped trails.
